Why does this website exist?

The main reason is to educate people. Disinformation, misinformation, well-meaning yet completely incorrect ideas, and all sorts of other nastiness pervade all of health and medicine. Through the use of logic, history, evolutionary biology, common sense, and other tools, my goal is to make the truth quite obvious to those willing to open their minds to it.

First, docere...a Latin word that means to instruct, teach, or point out.  One of the six foundational principles of modern Naturopathic Medicine is "Doctor as Teacher", which we shorten to docere.

"Doctor as Teacher (Docere): Naturopathic physicians educate their patients and encourage self-responsibility for health. They also recognize and employ the therapeutic potential of the doctor-patient relationship."

The same basic idea is true in health and nutrition:  "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime."

An educated client is an empowered client.  Does your practitioner educate you and value your input/feedback, or just expect you to "follow orders"?  Are you actually interested in learning about how to take care of the only body you're given, or do you trust all these decisions to someone else?

I'm here to help people learn how to help themselves through education.
