Quote from Dr. Garrett Smith on November 10, 2018, 9:03 pmPyroluria, in short, is a health issue that is blamed on very significant zinc deficiency and/or very significant Vitamin B6 deficiency. It can be diagnosed through a urine test that looks for pyrroles (remember that term below).I have not been impressed with the treatment results I have heard about from clients coming to me from other practitioners, nor from the general commentary on the interwebz. I also don't think that somehow humans genetically "broke" within the last couple decades and now some people need OBSCENE amounts of zinc and B6 to not completely break down in disease. The root cause of this "symptom picture" simply hasn't been found yet.A theory of mine at this point:
- Poison/"Vitamin A" uses up zinc rapidly in making Retinol Binding Protein (RBP). You will find zinc and RBP discussed all over this website if you haven't seen it already, they go hand-in-hand. It is possible that zinc is used up when there are large requirements for RBP, such as in Poison/"Vitamin A" toxicity situations.
- I don't have a mechanism yet...I do believe that somehow Poison/"Vitamin A" is causing B6/P5P deficiency, of this I'm quite sure after seeing many people's supposed "B6 deficiency" symptoms improve after being on my Nutritional Restoration programs (which include a Vitamin A Detox phase) long enough.
Therefore, my theory is that Poison/"Vitamin A" toxicity is potentially behind pyroluria. In terms of pyrroles and Poison/"Vitamin A" interactions, I only have this so far:Discovery of novel and potent retinoic acid receptor alpha agonists: syntheses and evaluation of benzofuranyl-pyrrole and benzothiophenyl-pyrrole derivatives.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10956201The title says it all, really...potent retinoic acid receptor agonists (stimulates Poison/"Vitamin A" receptors strongly) that just so happen to have pyrrole groups attached. Many of the compounds we are finding to be toxic long-term these days do just this...they stimulate Poison/"Vitamin A" receptor activity...which is not good in my opinion.I absolutely believe they're connected, and this is why the long-term treatment of pyroluria hasn't worked out as well as many practitioners and patients have hoped...because they are only treating yet another symptom of Chronic Insidious Vitamin A Toxicity.
